| INTERMEDIATE HEALTH CARE FACILITIES (IHCF) are health related institutions planned, organized, operated, and maintained to provide facilities and services which are supportive, restorative, and preventive in nature, with related social care, to individuals, who because of physical or mental condition, or both, require care in an institutional environment but who do not have an illness, injury, or disability for which regular medical care and 24-hour nursing services are required. |
| Businesses must apply for facility license BEFORE accepting patients License: $150 yearly. |
| The Division, under the direction of the Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA), also determines eligibility of the facility for Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement certification. Contact HFD for further information is you wish your facility to be eligible. An Intermediate Health Care Facility (IHCF) does NOT qualify for Medicare or Medicaid payment reimbursement certification unless the Skilled Nursing Home Facility or Alternative Care Facility requirements are also met. |
