| OVER THE COUNTER THERAPEUTIC PRODUCTS AND DEFICIENCY CORRECTORS. Vitamins, medicines, cod liver oil or any food supplement are taxable. These products serve as supplements to food and, as such, they do not fall into the food category. The rationale is that essential vitamins and minerals occur naturally in a good diet and will supply all nutrients needed. | Federal regulations prohibit the collection of sales tax on eligible products purchased with food stamps, vouchers or checks from the federal supplemental food program for women, infants and children (WIC).
