International Trade Office (ITO) Internship Program

The following skills are required:

  • Strong interest in international business/relations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Adobe)
  • Ability to work independently
  • Foreign language skills are a plus (Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, Japanese and German are preferred)

Interns will be assigned specific projects. The nature of the projects will vary and be discussed in more detail during interviews. Typical projects include general market research on behalf of Colorado exporters and projects that assist the ITO staff prepare for various trade events (trade shows, trade missions, etc.). As part of the program, interns will be invited to local trade-related events put on by ITO or their partner organizations.

The internship program is offered twice a year, from January to June and from July to December. We generally hire new interns by the beginning of each term depending on workload and space availability. Applications are accepted all year round. Please specify in your cover letter the term for which you are applying. All internships are unpaid. The time commitment required by each intern is 10 to 20 hours per week. Please note that preference will be given to those candidates at the graduate-level and above. Interns are not required to be in school.
