The Colorado Department of Agriculture (CDA) enforces the Colorado Measurement Standards Act to promote truth in commodity labeling and pricing and a fair Colorado marketplace.

CDA inspectors test scales for accuracy, perform price accuracy tests and inspect packages for proper labeling and to ensure the net contents meet the declared quantity.  Commercially used scale operators must first license with the CDA Measurement Standards Program.  The license fee depends on the scale capacity.  Scale servicepersons must certify yearly by the Department of Agriculture.

License, scale:  Commercial scale operators must license yearly (July thru June).

Certificate, scale service & repair:  Scale servicepersons must certify yearly (January thru December).

Labels, prepackaged commodity:  statements of identity, responsibility and net quantity must be on prepacks offered for sale.
