Colorado SBDC launches economic gardening program: SBDC Advanced

The Colorado Small Business Development Center Network (SBDC) today launched its new economic gardening program for Colorado businesses - SBDC Advanced - to help 'grow' and 'cultivate' second-stage companies by granting them access to high-level research and data to identify marketing, accounting, logistical and legal strategies.

The SBDC Advanced program taps into corporate-level tools, experienced consultants, and an extensive resource base to provide data and information to Colorado businesses as they formulate their strategic growth plans. The program is open to Colorado businesses at three levels: Gold, Silver and Copper. Depending on the level selected, deliverables provided include specialized reports in market research, geographic information systems, financial analysis, and marketing and search engine optimization. Businesses are encouraged to apply to be involved in the SBDC Advanced program by visiting www.coloradosbdc.org/consulting/sbdcadvanced.

Economic gardening is an economic development strategy that helps second stage, established Colorado businesses grow and create jobs. It provides specialized business assistance to refine core strategies and develop new markets by utilizing geographic information systems and providing access to competitive intelligence usually only available for Fortune 500 companies. It also helps with search engine optimization and social media marketing. The program is made possible through the passage of HB 13-1003.

"We are excited to offer these services that might otherwise be out of reach for the small to mid-sized business owners. SBDC Advanced is another great tool for spurring innovation and growth across the state," said SBDC state director Kelly Manning.

SBDC is a division of the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade. The Colorado SBDC Network includes 14 full-time centers and more than 50 part-time satellite offices across the state.
